LIFE EXPERIENCES

My blog currently has no clear destination, though it does have a very clear starting point. After playing hooky for a year, to put it simply, I began to respect my intention to write enough to desire a respectable platform for it. I don’t claim to be an expert on anything; I’m simply allowing myself the pleasure of letting my thoughts flow and giving myself permission to think out loud. This openness enables a meeting of my ideas with those of my readers, hopefully nurturing a shared dialogue.

The two foundational elements of my journey of unlearning and learning were:

  1. Music - I'm not exaggerating when I say that music has been a part of me since I can remember. I grew up in a home where every morning began with Kishore Kumar’s songs, thanks to my father's refined taste in art, a trait passed down to both my brother and me. Even as a young child, when most lyrics should have flown over my head, I had already memorized every word of Kishore Kumar's songs.

  2. Written word - Writing began when those lyrics stopped being just words and started forming meaning in my head. Poetry emerged for a brief time when some of those lyrics found refuge in my heart, and the first poem I ever wrote was about my mother when I was 13. It was something about how, in the early hours of dawn, she would gently caress my brother and me while we slept, mildly smelling like jasmine before welcoming the morning sun. Finally, books came into my life, opening up a whole new world waiting to be discovered.

Undoubtedly, I will never cease to be fascinated by the profound impact words possess. It would be a disservice not to attempt to craft prose and poetry of my own.
